Score drop from 630 to 600... Help needed

$

I am feeling super disappointed today. I have been preparing for GMAT for over a 3 months now and I feel that I am going no where forward with it.

3 weeks ago I attempted my first GMAT and scored a 630 (V 37, Q 39). It was clear to me that while verbal needed to be improved a bit, I needed to significantly improve Quant. So the next 3 weeks I studied hard and did about 50~60 quant questions a day for each topic...

I gave my second attempt today and to my disappointment, I scored 600 (V 27, Q 47). This time around, I did decent on quant but ended up sacrificing my verbal score. Now I am lost as to what to do now. I was intermittently solving SC and CR questions during my practice sessions and I was getting them right most of the time. So I feel that the score drop from 37 to 27 in the actual exam is too much.

I immediately cancelled my score so I do not have the breakdown of the 600. I am super disappointed with myself for now. I know I will get back on the GMAT journey after giving myself some breathing space.

But in the meantime, I would really appreciate some feedback on what I should do to improve and more specifically how to balance studying Verbal and Quant.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

I have bought 7 Veritas prep tests. It also has a question bank. I just wanted to know if questions are same or not. In addition I would like to know that how efficient are these tests? Are the questions similar to gmat? I also plan to buy the additional tests from mba.com. So can you all please tell me which practice tests should I give first?

Lastly can some please help me provide a good strategy with a schedule for giving the mocks and how many days should I practice for every section as I have one and half month left

Duke MQM vs LBS MAM

Hello everyone,

I have been admitted to Duke master's in quantitative management and LBS master's in analytics and management, both are without scholarships and focus on data science/machine lerning.
About me: Undergraduate student in Germany with Chinese background.
Early career goal: data scientist in finance or consulting, preferabley in the US. Tech-industry would be my secondary choice.
Now I can't decide between these two and need your help.

Duke pro: (in declining impotance)
I prefer to live in the US so an american school should have the upper edge
MQM with finance track instead of general business courses at LBS
Strong alumni network in consulting
Warm culture

Duke con:
Not so strong in finance, less opportunities for on-campus recruiting
Very short program (10 months). As an undergraduate student, I prefer longer programs.
Durham is a small city with less job opportunies

LBS pro:
Stronger brand name? In Europe definitely, I'm not sure about the situation in the US. Globally, LBS might be considered slightly higher in reputation?
High reputation in finance (IB)
Very strong location

LBS con:
Completely new program: In Summer 2019, MAM will be offered for the first time at LBS. So I am worried about the quality of the program, even though LBS is a strong brand name.
Since I prefer to live in the US, the chance for me to find a job there after graduation from LBS is marginal
Contains seveval courses in general management, such as marketing and organisation, which I am not interested in at all.

LBS has Less tuition fee (about 45000 USD in contrast to 65000 USD at Duke), but higher living costs, so the expense should be about the same. My Chinese friends suggest me to go to Duke while my German friends are all for LBS.

Life Story - Got 500 (Q27, V33) on a MBA practice exam, need 600 soon!

Hello everyone! - TLDR: how to improve my quant from 27 to 39 with full-time availability in six weeks :shocked

This is my first post on GMAT club. Everyone seems very helpful over here so i just want to let my thoughts go here for a moment.

My name is Raymon, 24 year old dude from the The Netherlands and i can say i was a real screw-up in primary school, got kicked two times and finally graduated on one of the lowest possible degrees in electrical engineering. After that i studied IT management for four years at a MBO, which translates into secondary vocational education according to Google Translate. Didn't do anything over there so i decided to start studying commercial economics for four years at an university of applied sciences (HBO). Turns out that wasn't so hard either and i graduated two months ago

Now, for the first time in my life i want take things seriously and i am looking for a pre-masters program in business administration, the condition of which is a 600 GMAT score. As a non-native English speaker, i miraculously keep getting high scores on the verbal part for the GMAT practice tests. Perhaps all my years of gaming weren't a waste of time after all. But i am just so bad at the quant section. I think the problem lays in my low-level earlier math. About two months ago i could only do some head counting and knew the Pythagorean theorem(never did algebra of geometry in my life). Lately I have put a lot of effort into this and really started with the basics. Today I took a practice exam and got 27 for quant, long ways to go. According to a 2019 chart i need Q39 at least with my verbal score.

My first official GMAT moment is due for 29th of may so i have about six weeks left in which i almost have full-time availability.
What do guys recommend? I bought the GMAT official Guide books which come with the online Wiley learn environment(don't have 500 laying around for expensive courses). I figured i just need to practice a lot more so i am planning to do practice questions only for the next two weeks.

If anybody has any suggestions i would really like to hear them!
Thanks for reading :-D

Hi,

Are there any grammar gurus here?
Please tell me if there is any grammatical error in the sentence below:

"One of my goals in life is to keep learning and apply the knowledge and lessons to help others in need."

Does "apply" need to be changed to "applying"? or can I leave it as is because "keep" and "apply" are parallel?
