Columbia ($$) vs NYU Stern ($$$$)?

Hi all,

I am in a difficult, though very lucky place, and have some tough choices to make. I've been admitted to both Columbia Business School and NYU Stern for their full time programs. Columbia is offering me a fellowship that covers over 50% of my tuition (the fellowship is for $80,000). But, Stern is offering me a full ride: both semesters and fees covered, plus an annual stipend of $10,000.

I am looking to get into the intersection of tech and media, and potentially form my own company in the future. I would love to be in a strategy or management role. I want to stay in NYC, and currently work at a tech/media startup (I've previously worked at a large media company). I've also thought about brand management as an option, since I know recruiters love brand management experience on a resume and the marketing and strategy knowledge I'd learn would be invaluable. While I'd potentially recruit for brand management for my internship and for my post-grad job, I don't think I'd stay in brand management forever--eventually, I'd want to use my prior experiences and migrate back to the media/tech industry in a strategy role.

For marketing, Stern clearly has a stronger job placement program for brand management, but I don't think Columbia's is bad--their marketing program is ranked as better than NYU's on most lists. And, although Stern has a media "major," Columbia's media placement seems a little better (I also suspect that those in media, who don't traditionally go to business school and know nothing about rankings, will respect the cache of Columbia's name more). I'm also not sure that one alumni group is better than the other, though maybe you all have different thoughts on this than me.

With the money both are offering, the schools are neck in neck, and I'm genuinely not sure which to choose. Help me out?
