Hello all,
I am a VLSI engineer (in digital domain) who has a strong passion to move towards the management side in my career.
I would prefer to grow up the ladder as a Delivery Manager / Product manager.
Below are some of my profile highlights :
1) BE , in Bangalore (India) in Electronics and Telecommunications domain with a GPA of 3.3/4.0.
2) Worked in Bangalore for 2 years with a VLSI industry firm, before moving to US to pursue my Masters.
3) MS from University of Texas (USA) in Electrical Engineering, focused on VLSI with a GPA of 3.5/4.0
4) Worked in Qualcomm,USA for 3 years, before moving back to India.
5) I am right now working in India since 2015 in a VLSI company.
So I have a total of 8+ years of work experience with a Masters degree.
Off late, I have realized that I would really want to grow in the managerial vertical since I know I am good at organizing, people management and communication skills. I know doing an MBA would help me grow faster in my managerial career. But I also DO NOT want to let go off my technical skills completely after I pursue my MBA and get a job. An 80% of managerial role and a 20% of technical role is what I am targeting. I would also like to know if anyone has started afresh in any management role (Hr / Finance) after ~ 8 years of technical work experience - since the technical knowledge gained this far would not be MUCH use if anyone would land up getting a job in HR/Finance and other such fields.
I personally am not interested in HR/Finance courses, instead subjects such as International Business / Strategy would suit me is what I feel. But I am not aware of all the courses and the corresponding B schools that would suit me and hence I am seeking your help.
I am yet to give my GMAT and let us say I score between 650-700 (so that I am not complacent about it).
Considering my profile can you please suggest what COURSES AND B SCHOOLS SHOULD I TARGET which would be of my interests? Considering the rugged job scenario in US now, I am looking for B SCHOOLS mostly in EUROPE and then get a job in Europe as well. B schools in India are of 2nd priority to me.
I know VLSI jobs are more prevalent in European countries like Germany,Ireland,UK, Sweden, etc,. Please let me know about the post-MBA job scenario in Europe. Australia and Canada are out of scope since there are very less VLSI jobs there.
Thanks in advance for your help / suggestions.
Regards,
Anjan
