How do you go about answering the following question in your application:
"Which other schools are you applying to?"
The opinion out there is quite mixed. Reasons I have found till now include:
- purely for statistical purposes
- schools want to know how you make your choices, your clarity of thought
- schools want to gauge whether you will accept the offer and thus push their yield rate up
I believe I messed up my chances with one school because they AdCom must've thought that I considered their school as a safety choice.
Result=Waitlist.
(though that absolutely wasn't the case because my shortlisting wasn't on basis of rankings)
What do admission consultants have to say about this?
Is it fair to leave it blank or must one answer this question? If yes, how?
