GMAT Experts and Veterans,
(1) I appeared for my second GMAT on 1st of July 2013 and ended up with a disastrous 580 (Q47/V23). I studied hardcore for 4 months focusing only on verbal during the last one and half months of my preparation. I had been consistently scoring around Q45/V34 in my last 3 mocks. Hence you can understand how flabbergasted I would have been when I saw a huge imbalance of 10+ points on the verbal section. I think I might have messed up with CR or RC. I am still under some shock... I have been aiming for a lower 700 at least. I am planning to retake GMAT in 5~6 weeks. Please can you suggest me what can I do differently to achieve my desired score.

(2) Also, what do you think would be a safe score for a top 10 B-school? I am an Indian female, mechanical engineer by profession. I have 6+ years of work experience (inclusive of 1+ years of leadership experience in Engineering domain) with a leading diesel engine manufacturing MNC. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering; 72% from a premier college in India. I am not much of a extracurricular person. Do you think with a score of 720 I stand any chance at the top 10 schools? Or should I be contended with an executive MBA in India?
Thanks
Namrata
