Hi GMATClub Members,

As some of you might be knowing that the interim Online GMAT format doesn't allow you to use a pen & paper. The only way to take notes while taking the test is to use an Online Whiteboard. Now those of you planning to take the online GMAT will be looking for options to start using the Online Whiteboard. Don't worry we have created a Online Whiteboard Simulator similar to the one used by GMAT. So, you can bookmark the link and use it whenever you're practising GMAT questions to get used to working with the online whiteboard. This whiteboard is openly accessible to everyone.

How does the Online Whiteboard work?

I have tried to summarize the student experiences that we have heard till now. Let me share how the online whiteboard works!

1.The online whiteboard opens in the same window in which the Question appears, so you can take notes while looking at the question.
2.It is open by default and you can choose to close it & open again
3.The whiteboard is docked to the screen
4.You can type using your keyboard and draw using your mouse
5.You can change the size of the whiteboard window as per your wish
6.The notes in the online whiteboard dont disappear after each question. Youve the choice to clean the content manually.

How does the Proctor monitor you?

You might know that there is a Proctor who will monitor you during the test to ensure that everything is fair. Obviously some of you might not be comfortable seeing someone monitor you throughout the test, but there is some good news here. Im sharing all the points that I could gather till now.

1.You dont have any contact with the proctor till before the start of the test
2.You have no contact with the proctor until something happens, so you wont be able to see the proctor
3.If needed, the proctor will chat with you during the test, if he/she finds something wrong or you seek for his/her assistance
4.Youre not supposed to speak while solving questions. The proctor will ask you to stop if he/she finds you mouthing words to yourself as well.

What about the Security Protocol?

Before starting your test, you need to take a picture of the workstation, yourself and your ID. There is a entire system set-up test by GMAT. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully. The GMAT instructs you to keep 15 mins for this activity, but students who have taken the online test have recommended keeping 30mins in hand just to account for some unforeseen circumstances.

What about the test structure?

Students who have taken the test didnt report any difference in difficulty level of questions between the online test and the test centre based test. The only difference is that the section order is fixed, there is no AWA section and there is only one 5min break before IR.

If you want to use the Online whiteboard, you can access it using this link: https://learn.gmatwhiz.com/whiteboard/index.html
