Good afternoon. I am heading to McCombs this fall. I come from a chemistry/science background, but I love technology and I'd love to work in the tech industry. How difficult is it to transition into high tech with no relevant work experience? Technology has always been a hobby of mine so I always keep an eye on the industry. I can also do basic computer programming and the likes.
I have a feeling it would be pretty much impossible for me to to land a product development job with a large tech company, but what about finance/marketing roles? I'm thinking Google (obviously very competitive anyway so I know my chances are slim, but are they even open to someone without experience?), Microsoft, Apple, Intel, AMD, etc.
I'd like to hear any input. Thank you very much.
